Writer’s block? This is where to go

leave a comment »

Looking back at a blog entry from six months ago:

I love surfing the web in search of fun and useful blog tools and I found a few that are good if you suffer from a severe case of writer’s block. We all get it sometimes..

First off there is languageisavirus. They’ve got some good generators and writing prompts to make the emptiest mind produce something.

Then there’s a good article on dissolving writer’s block – it’s right here.

A fun one is 911 Writers Block where you enter a virtual phone booth and are asked to dial different digits, for example 1 for Settings of your story, 4 for dialogue and so on.

One that I like to visit myself – when I am lost for words – is creativity-portal.com. They have inspiring articles, photo prompts and generators to tickle and turn on your brain.

I am right now searching for a killer blog entry title producer. Are they out there?

What’s happening

leave a comment »

I have been busy these past two days getting to know The Work and learning more about Byron Katie. Also my son’s 10 year old birthday is coming up on Monday and I am so excited for him.

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years with the blessing of him in my life. He is a precious, precious boy and I am so proud of him. Just today I spoke with him on the phone for an hour and I listened to the laughter in his voice and the excitement. He said tomorrow he’s going to search the house for gifts and “Mom, if I give you money, will you tell me what I get”?

I love him so much there are no words. He’s the most amazing gift in my life.

Blog entries might be sparse during the next couple of days because of all the PARTYING going on  :-)

Tonight’s homework: My child / The work by Byron Katie

leave a comment »

PhotographImage via Wikipedia

Indentified belief: My child will hurt if I am not there with him every day by his side. I am a noncustodial mom and I feel ashamed.

1. Is it true that he will hurt if you’re not there with him every day by his side? No.

2. Can you absolutely know that it’s true that he will hurt? No, I can’t know for sure.

3. What happens when you believe in the thought “My child will hurt if I am not there with him every day by his side. I am a noncustodial mom and I feel ashamed.” ?  I feel very sad and stuck because I am unable to change the situation. I get frustrated and I feel like I am to blame for having to be away from him. I carry a lot of guilt about that. I feel very bad about myself and I don’t wanna allow myself to feel happy. I want to punish myself.

4. Who would you be without the thought? If I didn’t carry around the thought that my child is miserable because of me – or miserable for any reason – I would be happy. I would be more carefree and more interested in the world around me. I wouldn’t feel so much like hiding away and denying myself happiness. I would be a much better mother because I would feel whole.

Now turn the belief around.  My child will not hurt if I am not there with him every day by his side. I do not feel ashamed.  When I speak with him, I hear joy in his voice. He has friends, he has a social life, he loves his father whom he shares a nice home with. He loves being with me when we have time together. He loves my company. He is not angry with me. He does not blame me. He does not blame himself. He does not blame his father. My child is a happy child.

I am willing to experience that my child is happy and willing to experience not being ashamed.
I am looking forward to experiencing that my child is happy and looking forward to experiencing  not being ashamed.

Spice up your blog!

leave a comment »

Emo4You Okay peeps, let’s talk about how you can spice up your blog! Sometimes you (or your readers) just get tired of the long blog entry with no pics and yet 12,000 words. It’s time to make your blog stand out a little.

First of all, you can add cute smileys. Go to FreeEmo4U where you will find hundreds of different smileys. When you’ve found one you like, you simply click on it and copy/paste the html into your blog. That’s it! It couldn’t be easier.

Next thing is to bring a bit of life into your blog and here’s where I recommend Apture which is a tool that lets you embed all kinds of media into your posts. You go to their page, sign up and add a html code to your blog. Then you’re ready to go. You can now embed video, pics or articles to your blog entries – even after you have posted your entry! It’s so cool. Here is an example. I have opened Apture and searched for the term “blog design“:

And the result (or one of them) is an article about great blog designs. Isn’t that awesome?? Apture is a free tool which makes it even more neat.

Now for something totally amazing: Free blog backgrounds. Don’t you ever get tired of the same old white or black background? I found this cool site called The Cutest Blog on the Block and this is someone who offers free backgrounds for blog (just keep the URL on it) – the background on my blog is from that site. They have some beautiful patterns and they’re easy to install, just a simple piece of code and your blog can really stand out from the crowd.

And then the fonts. I have seen some pretty amazing blog entry fonts around the web but I haven’t been able to make them work myself as I am not that good at html coding. But if you’re a somewhat skilled blogger, you might be able to do it – check out this article: How to use a cute font for your Blogger post titles.

I guess that’s it for now on this subject of spicing up your blog. I will be back with more when I find some cool stuff around the web..Oh one last thing, why not add a nice signature under each post? Go to My Live Signature, press the wizard and follow the easy instructions.

Enjoy!

Where did the magic go?

leave a comment »

It’s been a while since we posted anything about magic. That’s mainly because Kurt is the expert in this particular field and I know practically nothing about it – and Kurt has been blogging about other subjects recently.

I have a bunch of magicians befriending me on Facebook and they all expect me to be super duper at magic. Then when they discover I know nothing, they move on to greener pastures.

I was on to something at one point but I was talked out of it. I had a death row concept all ready: “So you killed a no-good street walking whore? That doesn’t mean life can’t be magical!” – a sort of traveling magic show for death row inmates. But Kurt said it was a bad idea. I wanted to combine our interests in crime and magic but somehow the idea of entertaining a bunch of creeps on death row might not suit all people.

I understand that. It makes me sick, too. It was just a spur of the moment thing, anyway..takbole

Anyway, maybe we should have another magic post, Kurt?

My perverse knitting projects

leave a comment »

Yes peeps, it’s time to show off some of my wonderfully creative and somewhat disturbing knitting projects! I know, the excitement is overwhelming senyumkenyit

I knit every night. I’ve found it to be quite good for me as it brings peace inside my head but the bad thing is, since I am such a beginner knitter and at the same time a deeply perverse person, I knit bad things. It comes from deep within my poor, neglected female wants and needs..thus I have knitted stuff that resemble certain male body parts. Not on purpose though..it’s my mind’s way of telling me something. I just know it.

Facebook group for noncustodial parents

with 3 comments

Just informing our readers that I have just created a new group on Facebook for non-custodial parents. If you would like to join, just follow this link. I think it’s important to raise awareness about noncustodial parents and their stories because of the social stigma they/we live under. Quite often people frown upon a person who has lost custody although the truth is it can be due to reasons beyond their own control and they are excellent parents within their own right and ability. I hope the community grows quickly and will provide a nice forum for us all.

This blog post is part of Zemanta‘s “Blogging For a Cause” campaign to raise awareness and funds for worthy causes that bloggers care about.
