Oh my God ! Has this blog totally died? What’s happening here? – Asks one confused blog reader.

No it hasn’t died! I haven’t died! Kurt hasn’t died! We’re alive and kicking but ever since I have started video blogging I don’t really write many entries here which is a shame I suppose but video blogging is so much fun and actually I have contemplated to stop blogging the traditional way and just doing videos instead. I haven’t made the final decision yet but I thought I owed it to all of you to give an explanation of why this blog is so silent recently.

If you all want to keep up with what I’m doing, here are a few links where I am what’s more active:

My YouTube channel: http://youtube.com/user/gttlrs

My Facebook account: http://facebook.com/GitteGorzelakIsmail

My twitter: http://twitter.com/sleightofblog

I have not decided to totally abandon the blog – yet – so please do keep coming back now and then.

Top 5 sites found today

leave a comment »

Here is our list of the top 5 interesting, funny, thought provoking or inspiring posts/videos we have found online today:

1. RachaelPachel sings on Youtube. I just discovered RachaelPachel today via The Sue & Steve Show and I was really interested in her way of cutting and editing her videos. Very inspirational for a new video blogger as myself.

Subscribe to RachaelPachel’s Youtube channel.

2. There’s a blog in my soup! Blogs needs to eat, too. An amazing post about increasing your Feedburner RSS subscriber count. Read it here, it’s quite thorough.

3. Sue and Steve from The Sue & Steve Show have made a new video about finding their niche and using the Law of Attraction. Also, they’re inviting people to join them for a discussion, Tuesday June 30th 1pmPT (4pmET), about the law of attraction! It’s so exciting! Go to their page to read more.

4. John Chow’s excellent post: How I make 40000 a month from a blog. It’s inspiring and truly intelligent, of course – since it comes from John Chow..DUH. I have recently become a fan of John Chow on Facebook and I follow him on Twitter because I figure, if you wanna learn, you better learn from the best, right?

5. This is a great one. Follow Jewelchic on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/jewelchic) for cool diet tips and a really really excited and inspiring lady from down under! The channel is not only about weight loss though. It’s about living a fun and good life and we can all use tips on that subject, right?

Join in Seriously Silly Saturday

leave a comment »

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s Seriously Silly Saturday gelakguling! On the pic above you see me as a nun. That’s a good example of something rather silly (although my life does actually resemble that of a nun but that’s another story).

We’d like to encourage you to act silly today, post silly comments here, post silly videos or photos here, just act completely crazy. The most silly person might be rewarded (notice I said “might be”).

Facebook group for noncustodial parents

with 3 comments

Just informing our readers that I have just created a new group on Facebook for non-custodial parents. If you would like to join, just follow this link. I think it’s important to raise awareness about noncustodial parents and their stories because of the social stigma they/we live under. Quite often people frown upon a person who has lost custody although the truth is it can be due to reasons beyond their own control and they are excellent parents within their own right and ability. I hope the community grows quickly and will provide a nice forum for us all.

This blog post is part of Zemanta‘s “Blogging For a Cause” campaign to raise awareness and funds for worthy causes that bloggers care about.

She colors my day

leave a comment »

I have been a big fan of Amy Grant since I was a teenager. I can even remember the exact moment it happened. I was sitting in my grand parents’ attic and looking through some of my aunt’s record and she had a big collection of Amy’s music. I listened to the Age to Age album and was just immediately in love with her voice. It’s so beautiful, the lyrics are profound and her music always makes me feel peaceful. That’s a big deal for someone like me who is prone to anxiety attacks.

A bit of news from Amy: She now has a Twitter account! I am of course following her..highly excited by this news celebrate

Also it’s possible to read Amy’s blog and comment..I am just as excited by that. Visit her blog here.

Amy Grant has an EP out for Mother’s Day (She colors my day).

Now, I know it’s not Christmas but I have to post this because it is SUCH an achievement!

Go Amy! Faster, faster..LOL.

Introducing the Mom from a distance blog

leave a comment »

Cloud 9 Yep. That’s where I was this morning when I woke up to check my new blog and saw a special message from Kurt. I will get back to that but first I want to introduce you to my new blog which is..well I guess you can call it a niche blog because I will mainly be posting about being a non-custodial mother.

From the first blog entry:

My reason for starting this blog is mainly therapeutic. I need a place to vent, to cry, to laugh, to share. Also I hope to get contact with others and form some sort of network so we can all help each other and be a support system.

Go check it out by clicking on the link below – but remember, it’s still really new.

Mom from a distance; A journal written by a non-custodial mother.

Now let me get back to why I was so excited. I got this comment on the new blog yesterday:

I am so glad that you finally got the urge to create this blog my darlin’ Gitte. I think it will serve you and others a great deal of good – not only from a therapeutic standpoint, but a new social networking standpoint as well. I hope you can get to realize what you’ve always dreamed you could accomplish with this “From A Distance” blog… I really think you’re onto something. I support you in each and every way I can… always have, and always will. You make me so proud of who and what you are… and are becoming… I can’t fathom life without you. I love you Princess… kisses and hugz. Kurt

People are going AARGGGH in Schuylkill county

leave a comment »

Good morning everyone. It’s a beautiful day here, I’ve had the pleasure of talking to Kurt early today cos he couldn’t sleep – and it was so nice (and weird) being able to talk in MY morning instead of his.

A lady who is a Twitter buddy has pointed me to this story online. It’s about a statue with extremely big boobs that has stirred up a whole town. It’s all happening in Schuylkill county where an antique store owner has placed a female pirate (statue) outside the door to the shop. She’s got – quite big – accessories and this has made some people demand the statue to be removed. A Catholic priest has even said he might go to the statue and pray for it’s removal !

At first I thought it was a prank but I soon realized these people were serious. Out of all the crap going on in the world, they really did focus on a female pirate. The priest calls it soft porn and the store owner refuses to remove it.

Every day we see half-naked people on television. We’ve got all kinds of TV shows that celebrate nakedness and sex, we’ve got magazines, we’ve got advertisements for all kinds of products that have nothing to do with sex but still need to be displayed with a pair of breasts next to them – and yet, here we have a town in uproar because of a statue – and might I say a rather ugly statue – meant to resemble a female pirate with a tight shirt on.

COME ON PEOPLE! Please get something else to worry about. Kids passing this statue will not see anything they don’t see every day on TV or in ads.

What do you think?
