What’s that? New layout? Where?

leave a comment »

Oh. I was hoping you didn’t notice. I’ve only gone and changed the layout once more and honestly, I am so tired of writing apologies. Maybe it is not even necessary anymore?

I mean, if you have hung around this long, chances are you are used to constant changes here and if you’re a newbie and I have now lost you, I am so sorry – I am sure you will find lots of other places that remain the same year in and year out. I am just not that kinda blogger.

We’re now using a simpler layout that should be quite easy to navigate (I write that every time I change layout) …

By the way, happy Halloween to those of you who celebrate it – be careful not to get swallowed up by a bogeyman.

Night owl

leave a comment »

Yeah I’m up reading. It’s almost 4 AM here in Denmark and I am up.

It’s kinda silly but I am starting to come to terms with the fact that I am a night person. I am so at ease and so active at night.

On the pic I am just studying some song lyrics – whilst at the same time listening to a video on Youtube about a doctor who got arrested for smothering a three week old patient. Plus I was updating Facebook.

Thank God tomorrow is Saturday.

And here’s some stuff for you to read if you’re wide awake in the middle of the night like I am:

Attempting a smile

FunPhotoBox_130657cfgrfg

Monday is usually a day where lots of practical stuff has to be done at my place because I tend to spend all Sunday whining and complaining about how much I need to do and how I don’t feel like it. So Monday it is.

Take today, for example…
I wake up with absolutely no food in the fridge, thus no breakfast. Cos of course I didn’t do enough shopping Saturday to last me until a good part of Monday. I’m 36 and still haven’t learned. It’s okay though. I am on the road to change; I can just feel it ;-)

I’ve got a long grocery list in front of me and I am not stressing one bit, actually. Why (I usually would) ? Because I am testing something in my life. Freedom. Although I have to be aware that my mind seeks freedom every second of the day, it’s a brand new thing that I am even aware of how un-free I have been and I am so determined to make a change. I mean, come on, I have been so entirely stressed out that my hair has fallen out during the past six months! It’s just no good. I will never completely shake off all my concerns and worries but an attempt to free myself must be made – at least to the point where I let some sunshine and happiness into my life.

First step to becoming more free and happy: Try smiling for at least ½ hour per day, not necessarily in one stretch – but smiling MUST be achieved. It’s a part of being free.

I wish you all a happy day.

What I bring on trips

leave a comment »

Alice Huyler Ramsey (1887–1983) in 1909. Aspha...Road trip, 1909, Image via Wikipedia

Deodorant
It’s just a must. I mean, without deodorant you won’t make any new friends and your old ones won’t talk to you (if you brought them along).

Tissues

Always bring tissues. You might wanna blow your nose, wipe your eyes or use chloroform on a hapless victim..sorry, that was a tip for the serial killers..

Laptop

I’ve gotta stay connected to check my email, Facebook and blog. I just might die if I am offline. I haven’t tested this theory but I am quite sure. I’ve heard stories.

Three pairs of panties

No explanation needed..

Cellphone

Gotta bring my cell cos I get at least one phone call per month. God I am such a lonely soul in this big huge world..why go on a friggin’ trip anyway..

Digital camera

Uh yeah, I might find the perfect spot to take a pic. And it’s very important to snap all the “Gitte standing by tree”, “Gitte standing left of tree”, “Gitte standing right of tree”, “Gitte modelling by the seaside”, “Gitte eating icecream” moments on my vacation..to show my family and friends when I come back. It’ll be the worst four hours of their lives.

Common sense

Remember to bring common sense. If you’re on a dark road and some mid-twenties white guy says he has car trouble, keep walking..or preferably running.

What would you bring on a trip?

Facebook group for noncustodial parents

with 3 comments

Just informing our readers that I have just created a new group on Facebook for non-custodial parents. If you would like to join, just follow this link. I think it’s important to raise awareness about noncustodial parents and their stories because of the social stigma they/we live under. Quite often people frown upon a person who has lost custody although the truth is it can be due to reasons beyond their own control and they are excellent parents within their own right and ability. I hope the community grows quickly and will provide a nice forum for us all.

This blog post is part of Zemanta‘s “Blogging For a Cause” campaign to raise awareness and funds for worthy causes that bloggers care about.
