Night owl

leave a comment »

Yeah I’m up reading. It’s almost 4 AM here in Denmark and I am up.

It’s kinda silly but I am starting to come to terms with the fact that I am a night person. I am so at ease and so active at night.

On the pic I am just studying some song lyrics – whilst at the same time listening to a video on Youtube about a doctor who got arrested for smothering a three week old patient. Plus I was updating Facebook.

Thank God tomorrow is Saturday.

And here’s some stuff for you to read if you’re wide awake in the middle of the night like I am:

I really wish I could play the guitar. It always soothes me to listen to acoustic guitar music. Luckily my man Kurt is an excellent guitar player so I am hoping he will take time out between magic performances to teach me!

Then I could be sitting at home, video blogging and playing the guitar; creating our own blog intro’s! Man, that would be so cool.

Just a little bubble thought this morning …

Cliff Richard would be in my supergroup

If I had a super group, these would be the band members:

Cliff Richard
I am not having a super group without Cliff as the lead singer. I have loved his music since I was 14 and he is simply the world’s best male vocalist.

Amy Grant

I’ve been a fan of Amy for years because of her beautiful voice and the lyrics that I can always relate to. Amy has a song for every emotion and I love that about her.

Eric Clapton

We gotta have Eric Clapton on his mean guitar.

Reba McEntire

The queen of country herself..naturally.

Vince Gill

Is pretty good at the whole Bluegrass thing and since I really love that, he’s a must in our band.

Tanita Tikaram

Okay she might feel a bit odd in this crowd but her music is amazing and so she’s gotta be there. I wonder how she’d sing “Amazing Grace“?

She colors my day

leave a comment »

I have been a big fan of Amy Grant since I was a teenager. I can even remember the exact moment it happened. I was sitting in my grand parents’ attic and looking through some of my aunt’s record and she had a big collection of Amy’s music. I listened to the Age to Age album and was just immediately in love with her voice. It’s so beautiful, the lyrics are profound and her music always makes me feel peaceful. That’s a big deal for someone like me who is prone to anxiety attacks.

A bit of news from Amy: She now has a Twitter account! I am of course following her..highly excited by this news celebrate

Also it’s possible to read Amy’s blog and comment..I am just as excited by that. Visit her blog here.

Amy Grant has an EP out for Mother’s Day (She colors my day).

Now, I know it’s not Christmas but I have to post this because it is SUCH an achievement!

Go Amy! Faster, faster..LOL.

So you think you dislike Danish music!

Administrative divisions of Denmark in effect ...Denmark, Image via Wikipedia

Let’s turn our faces towards the cold north – or in my case just out the window – and check out some terrific Danish bands that I enjoy. Some of them are up-and-coming and some have been around for ages.

First off, this young lady is called Sys Bjerre and she’s got a terrific album out called “Gør det selv”. I haven’t gotten around to buying it yet but I really, really want it. Here’s a cool song off the album:

Next we’ve got a group that’s been around for quite a while. They’re called Souvenirs and the two members are Sofie Bonde and Nils Torp. Their first album “Souvenirs” became a huge hit in 1994 and they’ve had a huge audience ever since. This is the song “Jeg hader Susanne”:

Now this next song is actually little bit of a mix. Danish Lars H.U.G. and Swedish Lisa Ekdahl come together in a the beautiful duet “Backwards”:

And we mustn’t forget Flemming Bamse Jørgensen. He’s too big to be missed, big in numerous ways. I am gonna show the song he entered into the European song contest in 1980 cos it’s so heartbreakingly beautiful. And don’t get me started on his outfit.

He’s still very much around, right now with an album of Elvis Presley renditions.

Hope you enjoyed!

50 years of Cliff

leave a comment »

Mobile Alabama School Leaving Hullabaloo was the B-side of a single, long lost in dusty old archives from the seventies. Sir Cliff has dug it up, polished it off and put on a brand new FUNKY SUIT!

Cliff is right now celebrating his 50th anniversary and he can be proud of being the best-selling artist on this earth next to Elvis Presley, having sold more than 260 million albums. Born at The King George Hospital in Lucknow, British India, in 1940, he moved with his family to Great Britain and grew up relatively poor. Today he’s had a hit in every decade since the fifties and yet, he is rarely ever mentioned anymore when British music history is being documented. He brought rock’n'roll to Europe, was cool way before The Beatles and has millions of fans. His concerts continue to attract fans, young and old. The radio stations claim that Cliff fails to reach their “target audience”! What??? He’s got TONS of fans! I’ll never understand it..

Beautiful duet with Sarah-Jane Skeete :-)
